Statement on Terri Schiavo

Robert and Mary Schindler have saved their daughter's life for the time being, though the threat of death by dehydration still hangs over her from legal challenges to "Terri's Law".

Even if this proves only a temporary halt in the march towards general acceptance that people who need care have no right to live, it has made people all round the English-speaking world stop and look at what is happening. If it is only a hiccup in the "futile care" programme, and just puts a question-mark against the propaganda, these Schindlers and their supporters will have saved as many lives as the hero of Schindler's List. (In Britain we can be starved in our "best interests".)
