Life or death cases - Daily Mail comment This paper has always been gravely concerned about the new law which allows patients to make 'living wills', ordering doctors to allow them to die if they become too ill to speak or act for themselves. 'Backdoor euthanasia,' we call it. The Mental Capacity Act also lets patients appoint friends or relatives to make the life-or-death decision on their behalf when they become too weak - opening the way for lethal abuse by the unscrupulous. Now Ministers declare that the courts charged with administering this life-denying law will be allowed to sit in secret. That is a
scandal. The Act is a highly dangerous experiment. Nobody knows
what its implications may be. And we may never know unless these
cases are heard in public. ALERT is not responsible for the content of this site. When you are ready to retun to ALERT hit your browser's back button. |
