Press Release

6th August 2004 - For immediate release:

Law Commission proposes "Mercy" Killing should be minor offence

Speaking as a member of the over-65 group, it seems to me the authorities can't wait to get rid of us. First we get the Assisted Dying Bill, then the Mental Capacity Bill and now "Mercy" killing should be a minor offence, according to the Law Commission.

People who crack under the strain of looking after an elderly or disabled member of the family are built up as heroes. The real heroes are the vast majority of relatives who carry on coping and deserve more help than they get from the community.
