Press Release20th January 2003 - For immediate release: ALERT is grieved to hear that the live of another volunteer for assisted suicide is to be ended today. Many people go through a stage of wishing for death, but only the sick or people with disabilities are offered poison. As Alison Davis has said, they are considered to be "RIGHT TO WANT TO DIE". The next step will be for society to agree on the "Duty to Die" so that people who need care or support will apologise for going on living. A civilised society does not say "Yes, you are worthless", but recognises the value of everyone's live, however disabled or depressed a person may be. - end - For further information please ring 020 7730 2800 |
