King Hussein of Jordan is dead.

Before, he was on a life support system. It seems there was no dramatic switch-off. His family didn't want that.

And so the world had to wait. The people who would carry out the funeral. The newspapers with their deadlines. The heads of state who would have to rearrange their schedules in order to go to the funeral. They all had to wait while Hussein took his own time to die.

I wish we were all that important.
