Parliament destroys Hippocratic medical ethics by passing pro-euthanasia Mental Capacity Bill

Westminster, Tuesday 5th April 2005 - The Society for the Protection of Unborn Children (SPUC), a member of the Campaign Against Euthanasia, has deplored Parliament's passing of the government's pro-euthanasia Mental Capacity Bill, warning that it heralds the end of the Hippocratic tradition of medical ethics in Britain.

U. S. Congress a good example

The Mental Capacity Bill's Third Reading debate in the House of Lords Thursday 24th March 2005.

ALERT says: "Less than a week later than the U.S. Congress has intervened to try to save the life of Terri Schiavo, whose husband has ordered her feeding tube to be removed, our own Parliament is legislating to give people with 'lasting power of attorney' the option of making helpless relatives die for lack of water.

"Earl Howe's Amendment No 38 to the Mental Capacity Bill aims to prevent this.

It deserves everyone's hearty support."
